New Coptic Orthodox Church Formed In The Poconos

More Information On The Coptic Orthodox Church

On August 7, 2003, Father Nicholas and Reader David attended the first Liturgy of the newly formed Virgin Mary and Saint Marina Coptic Orthodox Church in the Poconos, held in Canadensis, PA. It was celebrated by Bishop David from Cedar Grove, NJ with approximately 50 individuals in attendance. This was the first time the Coptic Liturgy was celebrated in the Pocono area.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop David specially greeted and thanked Father Nicholas for his presence, and presented him with an icon. On behalf of Holy Trinity, Father Nicholas presented the new congregation with an icon of the Theotokos. The icon, as a token of our love and support, was received by the faithful with much appreciation and acclamation. Bishop David also publically greeted and gave an icon to Reader David, as well as Mr. Dimitrios Tsapatoris.

We offer our congratulations and best wishes to the Coptic Orthodox faithful of the Poconos and pray that God richly bless them in the work of establishing their congregation!
